2009 Annual General Meeting

The 2009 Annual General Meeting was held at Mphatso Motel in Mzuzu City, northern region of Malawi on Friday 29th May 2009.
56 paid up members of the Bible Society of Malawi attended the meeting as delegates.

The meeting received and deliberated on:

• The Board Chairman Report presented by Mr. Mac Person Jere on behalf of the Board Chairman, Mr. Harry Mtuwa
• The Executive Director’s Report presented by Mr. Clapperton Mayuni
• Financial Statements presented by Mr. Roderick Chingota the Honorary Treasurer on behalf of Auditors Graham Carr

The meeting also ratified the recommendation from Executive Committee and appointed Graham Carr Certified Public Accountants to audit the books of the Society in the fiscal year January-December 2009.

The AGM bade farewell to three members of the Board of Directors who retired after serving nine years on the Board.
The retired Board members included:

• Mr. Roderick Chingota, who also served as the Honorary Treasurer, member of the Executive committee and Resource mobilization committee.
• Rev Macferson Jere, who also served as member of the Constitutional Review and the Bible Society of Malawi Strategic formulation task force
• Mr. Clevin Chirambo, who also served as chairman of Resource mobilization committee, member of the executive committee, and Bible week organizing committee.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Clevin Chirambo thanked all members for the trust they were given to formulate policies that guided the work of the Society and the unwavering support they received from all members. 

The AGM also welcomed new Board members: Reverend Kenneth Mtonga, Mr. Ken Nthunzi, Mr. Brown Mwanza and Mr. Victor Kaonga.

The AGM resolved that all members should be fully involved in resource mobilization activities and the organization of the celebration of Bible week in their respective areas.
